INTRODUCTION:

The Tanzania Roads Association (TARA), which is also a National Committee of the World Road Association (PIARC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Works in Tanzania, the Tanzania Transportation Technology Transfer (TanT2) Centre, Tanzania National Roads Agency  (TANROADS), Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), the Roads Fund Board in Tanzania with other local and international institutions, is organizing the Annual Roads Convention (ARC 2025) with a Theme of “Transport Sector Reforms in Africa: Enhancing Efficiency, Integration and Sustainability” to be held from 16th –  19th December 2025 at  New Library University of Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

With the theme “Transport Reforms in Africa: Enhancing Efficiency, Integration and Sustainability” ARC 2025 will bring together key stakeholders in the transport and infrastructure sectors to deliberate on transformative reforms shaping the future of Africa’s transport systems.

The Convention aims to explore how policy reforms, institutional strengthening, financing strategies, and technological innovations can drive Africa toward safer, more integrated, and sustainable transport systems that foster economic growth and regional integration.

MAIN THEME AND SUB-THEMES:

The main Theme of the Annual Roads Convention (ARC 2025) will be “Transport Sector Reforms in Africa: Enhancing Efficiency, Integration and Sustainability” with some subthemes;

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

The Annual Roads Convention (ARC) seeks to:

  • Provide a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences on transport reforms and infrastructure transformation across Africa.
  • Examine policy, institutional, and regulatory frameworks that promote efficiency and transparency in the transport sector.
  • Discuss innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable transport infrastructure development and maintenance.
  • Explore technological and digital innovations transforming transport governance, safety, and logistics management.
  • Strengthen regional cooperation and integration through harmonized transport policies and standards.
  • Promote capacity building and skills development for professionals in the transport sectors.
  • Encourage collaboration among governments, private sector, and development partners in implementing transport reforms.
